What if they discovered a new area and living inside it was some sort of rival to the mountain spirit and they all became embroiled in eternal war? Or what if they stumbled upon some future wife of Binghe encased in the magical amber of the Hu Po Pine? And then, once freed, she was stunned by Liu-gege’s handsome face and offered to wife him and (charmed in return by her jade-like beauty that rivaled his own) Liu-gege accepted and they lived in (ultimately imperfect) bliss for a few years until one day the older Binghe stumbled upon his shimu bathing in the moonlight and they fell in love (the princess not understanding or appreciating Liu Qingge’s subtle expressions and thinking herself unloved when she compared it to Binghe’s more open and fiery passion) and Binghe was tragically forced to kill his own beloved shifu? Though so far they had ultimately turned out to be good things, that was precisely why Shen Yuan had been deprioritizing exploration - there was already so much happening as it was!Īnd just how much longer could it still be a good thing? Obviously that would have to be played by ear.Īlmost every time he’d unlocked a new region on his map something strange had happened as a direct result. If he spaced those things out to one new exploration trip a week, maybe that would provide enough enrichment for the short term? And in the long term hopefully he’d reach a high enough level that Liu-gege would enjoy their practice sessions. Specifically, there was the cave inside Qing Mushu’s mouth, at least two more terraces, and anything that might be found off the stone path. But there was plenty of exploring to do, still! Shen Yuan had been so focused on making sure he was trained enough to be left alone, the pets and plants were properly being taken care of, and the letters were being responded to that he’d been neglecting everything else. He rather literally needed to provide some enrichment for his tiger-like friend if he was going to stay with Shen Yuan in his mountain enclosure. Liu Qingge had, after all, said quite clearly that he was forever sneaking out of the sect to fight things because of how restless he was from the lack of a challenge - so how could he possibly be satisfied with one almost powerless not-disciple to teach and (apparently relatively weak) monsters to fight only three nights a month? More like… Shen Yuan worried that when Liu-gege got back to his sect after this round of monster attacks subsided, he might stay with his sect instead of returning because he was bored. Granted, it wasn’t that much longer until the full moon and the miasma moon nights would give him monsters to fight, but that wasn’t really a long-term solution. Though he was obviously trying not to show it, Shen Yuan thought his friend was getting restless considering Liu Qingge’s only outlet for his martial interests was teaching him and practicing on his own. Well, not exactly about Liu-gege, but for him. Shen Yuan woke with the same thoughts he went to sleep with: He needed to do something about Liu Qingge.
